Why replace the membrane tube every year?

The santoprene tube is the working heart of a peristaltic pump: it is rhythmically compressed to push the chemical forward. Continuous exposure to chlorine, pH-minus and other pool chemicals gradually hardens the material, leading to micro-cracks that alter the actual flow rate delivered. Timely replacement once a year or at the first signs of stiffness or cracking prevents dosing errors, protects the pump's internal mechanism and safeguards pool water quality.
